Scalp Micropigmentation is a non-surgical treatment that uses small needles to deposit pigment into the scalp. This gives the illusion of tiny hair follicles or stubble. It gives the look of a short buzz cut after the treatment.
The answer is No. The SMP procedure will give you the look of a fresh buzz cut. Our recommendation is that you keep a shorter hairstyle in order to have the most natural look
First of all the SMP method does not penetrate as deep a level of skin as a traditional tattoo. For this specific reason, the pigment will not fade out into a blue or green hue once it starts to subside. The pigment used for SMP is diluted and not as concentrated as traditional tattoo ink. All we are doing is making small dots…no lines or shading
5 days is our suggested waiting time before shaving or deep scrubbing your treated area.
Sure. You can wear a hat or skull cap if you prefer.
Each SMP treatment is on a case by case basis depending on the area of scalp we’ll be covering. Our prices typically range from $1500-$4000. We recommend scheduling your free consultation in order to receive a more personalized quote on your specific treatment.
Depending on your level of hair loss or scarring…most clients should expect anywhere between 2-4 sessions. All sessions are scheduled 10-15 days apart.
Each session lasts between 1-4 hours depending on the level of hair loss. All required sessions are spaced 10-15 days apart. 2 to 4 sessions is usually the recommended treatment process.
After the treatment is done you should expect the results to last for several years to come. After a long period of time, you will notice a slight lightening of the treated area. When this happens, you can schedule a brief touch up to revive the lightening areas and secure your look for more years to come!
SMP has consistent and effective results that are undetectable by the average person you will encounter. At Bladerunner SMP Studio you will receive the closest match to your hair follicle and growth pattern that you can possibly get.
Scalp Micropigmentation treatments typically last 4-6 yrs, after which time you may come in for a brief touchup in order to preserve your look.
Typically clients have an idea of what they’d like to achieve hairline wise before they have a consultation. However, if you have difficulty coming to a decision, we will explore different hairline looks during your consultation. Leaning on years of experience as a barber in achieving symmetrical hairlines, we will definitely find the natural look to suit you.
Scalp Micropigmentation is non-invasive and requires no downtime. In most cases, you will not need to take time off from school, work, or other functions. Slight redness for 2-3 days is quite natural however the redness subsides quickly. Also, you may wear a hat or cover if you feel it necessary.
No, it will not. The pigment used in treatment has no additives or colorant and will only lighten over time. The equipment used in treatment is specifically designed for scalp micrompigmentation.

Scalp Micropigmentation is not just a traditional tattoo. Scalp Micropigmentation (SMP) is a form of permanent cosmetics, but unlike tattooing or permanent makeup, the treatment duplicates the look of short cut hair by using pointillism techniques. Bladerunner SMP utilizes different equipment than traditional tattooing, ensuring the needle and machine are designed specifically for micropigmentation of the scalp.
Definitely. We use our specialized SMP technique to deposit color matched pigment into the scar to reduce visibility
The equipment used is considered “permanent cosmetic” equipment. There are many different brands and designs of equipment. Most technicians use different equipment than regular tattoo artists to ensure the deposits are delicately placed at the appropriate depth in the skin.
For most clients, the pain is very minimal. It is significantly less painful than traditional tattoos. After the session, any pain or discomfort will subside immediately
Scalp Micropigmentation is used to add density to thinning areas. We are able to add thickness to common areas like the crown, hair parting, and more. For people that are using scalp micropigmentation to rebuild their hairline, we recommend keeping your hair short for a more balanced look.
We are able to match the shade of the pigment to a wide range of skin tones. Whether you are Caucasian, African American, Hispanic, Asian or Pacific Islander, and much more…SMP can work for you!
We recommend 4-5 days before resuming any heavy sweating or exercise routine.
Those with gray hair can definitely still benefit from the SMP procedure. A grayscale pigment is used a can be adjusted in shade to blend with lighter tones. We create a lighter dilution for blending into the existing gray hairs.
Depending on the pattern and extent of the thinning hair some clients are able to maintain a longer length of hair. SMP can help thicken areas so that less of the scalp is seen showing through. If there is a strong pattern of hair loss or if there is not a lot of hair density left, the client is advised to cut it shorter.
